Cooking with Nick

Fry up one sliced onion and some garlic. Take a pound of low quality minced beef and brown. Add beef stock, hot sauce, ketchup, bbq sauce and left over pasta sauce. Simmer for 25 mins. Meanwhile bake some oven chips. When the chips are ready place in a large bowl and cover with pseudo chilli mix. Grate loads of cheese over it and mix it up. Slap ketchup and hot sauce on to taste, eat, savour and weight for cardiac arrest!

High brow vs low brow

Today was a good day. After being woken up at 4am by drunken boyfriend of housemate my plan to get out of the house early was in tatters. After 2 hrs awake fuming at my misfortune I went back to sleep from 6 - 11. I decided I still had to get out of the house and explore part of downtown that I'd never really seen, Yaletown. Yaletown is the up and coming former industrial area where there are lots of skyscrapers, trendy salons and quality bars, restaurants and pool halls. I really like the industrial urban thing and I'd quite like to live there but as per most desirable areas it's way out of my reach at the moment. Anyway, I had a proper sit down lunch and then as I was about to head home I saw the cinema. I thought I might as well stay out a bit longer so I went to see what movies were on. One called Motorcycle diaries was about to start and I vaguely remembered reading good reviews on it. I knew it was something to do with Che Guevera but that was all. Anyway, I thought it was a fantastic movie with just the right amount of good scenery montages, good comedy and good powerful acting. When I came out of the cinema I had a message that the EA gang were going to see Team America in 20 mins. So I walked on over to see that too. Team America is by the guys that did south park and is basically on the same intellectual level, i.e. the gutter. It's low brow and quite amusing but not hysterically funny in my opinion. The theme tune *America, fuck yeah!* is quite catchy and the puppet sex scenes had me cracking up, but my favourite part is when the hero has hit rock bottom and is collapsed drunk in an alley. He then starts puking, and puking, and puking. I guess you have to see a puppet puking for 2 mins to get the full effect but I thought it was funny. I'm not sure if this is the first time I've ever seen two movies at the cinema in one day but it was well worth it.
