Things I've learnt about Tower Bridge thanks to UKTV docs: Now that I'm 28 I'll be channel surfing the documentary channels rather than the music channels (can't bear these ring tone ads).
- the design was hated by the architects of the time (obviously not the actual architect). They thought it was too old fashioned looking and wanted a more industrial simplistic looking design.
- it has walkways across the top so you could still cross on foot when the bridge was raised. These were closed due to them being a haunt for prostitutes
- it has it's own mortuary as bodies were often washed up under it in the area called Dead Man's Hole
- it has a bomb shelter in the arches
- it has lifts in the towers
